Bent Ear Books is an independent pop-up bookstore based on the Eastside in the Greater Seattle Area.
We carry a curated mix of new and used books and show up at markets, community events, and pop-ups across the Pacific Northwest.
We are also a community for readers.
For many of us, life gets busier and community gets harder to hold onto; kids grow up, careers shift, priorities change, people move away. Bent Ear Books grew out of a craving for connection, and it's at the heart of what we do; through book clubs, workshops, and conversations that start with books.

I’m SO excited to be partnering with Carmela Maxell to bring her debut dystopian novel, Bereavement, to more readers! I have a feeling we’re going to have a lot of fun collaborating and creating some meaningful conversations around her book and the ideas behind it.

There’s a book called My Ears Are Bent by Joseph Mitchell, a reporter who spent his time paying attention to everyday people in New York City. The kind of people most of us might walk right past. What he found is that the ordinary isn’t really ordinary at all… everyone has a story worth hearing.
A bent ear is a symbol of curiosity. It reflects a willingness to listen a little longer, look a little deeper, and remain open to perspectives beyond our own.
At Bent Ear Books, we believe reading helps us do exactly that. Books invite us into lives we've never lived, experiences we've never had, and ideas we may never have considered. They challenge assumptions, deepen empathy, and help us better understand ourselves, others, and the world around us.
